Dr. Zhang is a full professor of Huazhong Agricultural University, vice director of National Key Lab for Crop Genetic Improvement, vice chairman of Chinese Cotton Society. Dr. Zhang is also chief or chief-associate editors for three Chinese academic journals. He holds the national grants such as National High Tech Program, National Basic Research Program, National Transgenic Plant Research Project and National Foundation for Science, etc. His Cotton Group released 5 new varieties for cotton production. Dr. Zhang’s research areas cover plant cell culture and genetic transformation; cotton fiber development; interaction between fungal disease and cotton; and molecular marker development and map construction of cotton.
