WASWC(世界水土保持协会)收缴会费通知

作者:         发布日期:2015-11-11

Dear WASWC Guest members,

WE INVITE ALL GUEST MEMBERS TO SIGN UP AS PAYING MEMBERS

We have been operating Guest membership system for quite a while, whereby the total number of Guest members has come up to several thousand. In order to allow some space for new guests who would arrive in this year and subsequent years, we need to start to exercise the rule that was set up since a few years ago that WASWC offers Guest members to enjoy all benefits in the association for one year at no cost. In its operation, a password to protect a number of webpages is used and is changed once a year. The present password (291785) will change on May 1, 2007 while the username (waswc) will remain the same.

WASWC therefore would like to invite all Guest members who have been with us for more than one year, say, since before January 2006, to sign up as members in any category (see below). Despite being a low-cost association run by volunteers with exclusive use of the internet, WASWC also needs some funds to make the work interesting and useful to create a timely and satisfactory impact to the targeted natural resources – soil and water. The fee that you may pay, which is quite small and thus affordable to most people in these fields, will help the association to run its activities efficiently.

In order to facilitate your payment the Council had deliberated in the last week of February and has come up with a slight modification of the fee structure to be an incentive for the payment procedure. In the past when one wanted to pay the fee for one year, i.e. $5 or $10, the bank fee for transferring the money across international border might equal that amount or even exceed it – plus postage.

from now on, with the modified fee structure, we encourage members to pay for several years in one time with a small benefit given. That is, if one pays for 4 years the membership will last for 5 years and the small saving will help in compensating the transaction cost to certain extent – and the time and trouble of doing the cash transaction for the next 4 years can be effectively saved. In the same way, if one pays for 8 years the membership period will last for 10 years. Such a modified system might be useful especially when one did not want to pay a larger sum for Life membership.

Such kind of modified fee is valid also for existing members, both paying to our secretariat directly or through the Decentralization Program in one’s own country. Following is the modified fee structure valid from March 3, 2007. In the next page you will see the Application and Renewal Form that shows by which methods the payment can be made, with the list of 17 pay stations worldwide.

Thanks very much for your understanding and look forward to seeing you as our paying member and interact more actively with other WASWC members soon.
