Research Interests:
Dr. Fernandez’ research has been focused on quantifying and understanding the environmental influences on crop performance, and the quantification of crop-environment relationships and whole-plant physiology, in particular crop water use and whole-plant carbon balance. Then his research efforts focused on the development of Web-based simulation tools to help growers make more informed crop management decisions.
Professional Activities:
He is a member of the American Society of Agronomy and the Crop Science Society of Agronomy. He served as an associate editor of technical journals, as a reviewer for several technical journals and co-chaired and chaired for international conferences. He is recognized nationally and internationally for his research on plant water and carbon economies, and Web-based decision support systems for crop management. He has been invited to give numerous presentations at national and international conferences in Latin-American countries.
