FOLMER, Henk
Dr. Henk Folmer is a professor of Research Methodology and Spatial Econometrics at the University of Groningen, the Netherlands. His main methodological research areas are economic methodology, and integration of the social sciences and economics. In spatial econometrics he focuses on continuous time modelling, structural equation models and modelling spatial dependence. He has applied his methodological and econometric approaches in a large variety of areas ranging from rural industrialization, water management, valuation of water quality and wetlands, labor market analysis, climate change, fishery policy and regional development policy. He has research experience in and supervised Ph.D. students from many countries including The Netherlands, China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Kenya, Ghana, Tanzania, Uruguay and Argentina.
Henk Folmer is founder and first President of the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economics. He has served on various international, national and regional advisory councils and task forces. He has published widely in a large variety of international outlets in the fields of spatial econometrics, environmental and resource economics, regional economics, and economics research methodology. He is co-editor of The International Review of Environmental and Resource Economics, Letters in Spatial and Resource Sciences and The Regional Science Review (in formation) . He holds an honorary doctorate from the University of Gothenburg and is Fellow of the Regional Science Association International.
