Dr. Boisvert is one of the ten science directors at the federal department of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) and, as such, she has a regional and national mandates. Regionally, she supervises 45 scientists based in Winnipeg and Brandon, Manitoba, Canada. Their research covers various areas with an emphasis on cereals (wheat, oat, barley), flax and beans breeding for resistance to diseases and quality traits, nutrients and manure management, beef-cow nutrition and development of knowledge for beneficial management practices (BMP) as well as research on alternative therapy based on food, bioactive food ingredients, and clinical trials to support health claims.
Dr. Boisvert’s national mandate at AAFC is the Soil and Water Resources. She provides strategic advises to the department for the priorities and resources allocation. The environment research program at AAFC comprises 80 scientists with a budget of about 8M$.
Dr. Boisvert has a Ph.D. in remote sensing, from Sherbrooke University, Québec, Canada and an MSc in agriculture from Laval University, Québec, Canada. She is actively involved in developing scientific collaboration with government research organisations and universities through co-supervision of graduate students, work transfer and join research projects.
