Dr. Yin Li received his PhD degree in Fermentation Engineering from Jiangnan University in 2000. He then went to the Netherlands and worked in Wageningen Centre for Food Sciences as a Post-doc. He was later recruited as Research Officer by Science Foundation Ireland and worked in the Department of Microbiology, University College Cork. In 2006 he was appointed as Principle Investigator and Professor by the Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMCAS), under the support of Hundred Talents Program of CAS. In He has been working as a Tang Scholar Visiting Professor at Department of Biological and Environmental Engineering, Cornell University, in 2013.
Dr. Li is currently serving as the Director of CAS Key Laboratory of Physiological and Metabolic Engineering, and Director of CAS-TWAS Centre of Excellence for Biotechnology. He is the Research Editor of Microbial Cell Factories, Editor of Microbiology, and Editorial Board Member of Biotechnology Journal, Industrial Biotechnology, and Food Biosciences.
Dr. Li is mainly interested in molecular physiology, metabolic engineering, and physiological engineering that enable sustainable and efficient production of bio-based chemicals. He and his colleagues have filed over 30 Chinese patents and published more than 100 papers in international journals including PNAS, Scientific Reports, Metabolic Engineering, Biotechnology & Bioengineering, Applied & Environmental Microbiology, and Biotechnology for Biofuels, Current Opinion in Biotechnology, Trends in Biotechnology, and Trends in Microbiology. His group remains active collaboration with multinational enterprises including Shell in UK, DSM in the Netherlands, and Nestlé in Switzerland, and a dozen of domestic enterprises.
