My current research interests include the trafficking of cellulose synthase and de novo cell wall formation during cytokinesis in plant cells, the functions of pectin-degrading enzymes in plant cell growth and organ development, functional interactions between pectins and cellulose during cell wall synthesis and modification, the identification and characterization of new genes involved in cell wall expansion using activation tag screening, and tracking wall component delivery and dynamics in living plant cells using click chemistry-based metabolic labeling. Honors and Professional Activities: Tombros Fellow of the Center for Excellence in Science Education 2015 National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship 2002-05 Stanford Graduate Fellowship 2002-05 Highest Honors in Biology, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill 2002 H.V.P.
