1984 graduated from Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, majoring in planning and statistics, with a bachelor's degree in economics
1987 graduated from the Department of Agricultural Economics, Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, with a master's degree in economics
1998 graduated from the Department of Rural Development, Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, with a bachelor's degree in economics. Ph.D. in Economics.
August 1989 to March 1990 participated in the "Rural Regional Comprehensive Development Planning" graduate program of the Israel Resettlement Research Center (later changed to the Development Research Center)
1995-1997 Participated in the International Advanced Training Course on Environment and Development (LEAD) study.
Working Experiences:
July 1987 to present Institute of Rural Development, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, engaged in poverty alleviation and development theory and policy research.

Research Interests:
Poverty reduction, microfinance, well-being and rural development.
Professional Activities:
Wu Guobao was a member of the Expert Advisory Committee of the State Council Leading Group for Poverty Alleviation and Development (year 2010-2020Year), member of the expert group for exit assessment and evaluation of poverty-stricken counties of the State Council Poverty Alleviation Office. He once served as the senior poverty alleviation consultant of the Asian Development Bank’s China Representative Office and the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, United Nations Development Program, International Fund for Agricultural Development, World Food Program, AusAID, DFID, GTZ Consulting experts from multilateral and bilateral institutions.
