Research Interests & Professional Activities:

Dr. Xu holds the positions of Dean of the School of Food and Biological Engineering at Hefei University of Technology, Director of the Ministry of Education's Engineering Research Center for Agricultural Products Biochemicals, and Secretary-General of the Prefabricated Dishes Branch of the China Food Science and Technology Association.

Dr. Xu is a researcher and doctoral supervisor who has long been engaged in research on green meat production and quality control technology. He has undertaken and led several research projects, including the "973 Program", the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and the National Key Research and Development Program during the 13th Five-Year Plan. Dr. Xu has published over 100 scientific papers, received more than 20 invention patents, and established more than 10 national/industry standards for meat products. He has been awarded the Second Prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award and the First Prize of Provincial and Ministerial Science and Technology Progress Award. Dr. Xu is committed to teaching and practical education, and has undertaken and led projects such as the Ministry of Education's New Engineering Research and Practice Project. He has been awarded the Second Prize of National Teaching Achievement Award and the Special Prize of Anhui Provincial Teaching Achievement Award. He was selected as a leading talent in science and technology innovation of the "Ten Thousand Talents Plan" by the Central Organization Department of China and a specially-appointed professor of the "Changjiang Scholars Program" by the Ministry of Education.
