Dr. Sylvain Charlebois’ presentation will address the very complex issue of global food security, from a Canadian perspective. His talk will explore the physical, environmental, biological and socio-economic constraints that limit food production and the ability of people to access a healthy diet around the world. He will explore the concept of genetically modified seeds and the responsible use of biotechnology, food processing, retailing, distributing and consumer trends in the food industry and extend discussions of the food continuum. Dr. Charlebois will also provide some comments on energy Policy, the role of the private sector in emerging markets and the use of Big Data in agriculture.
