Research Interests:
Wheat genetics and breeding is our research area, our projects focus on wheat cuticle and biosynthesis of cuticular waxes. Several candidate genes involved in waxes biosynthesis were cloned from wheat leaves; they will be transferred to tomato and yeast to find out the functions. We are also interested in the expression and control patterns of these genes and try to improve the drought resistance or water saving performance of crops by biotechnology. We are also developing new transformation technology to make transgenic wheat plants.
Professional Activities:
Member of Shaanxi Genetics Society
Member of Canadian Society of Plant Physiologists (CSPP)
