Academician and Prof. Li Peicheng, was graduated from the Department Water Conservancy at Northwest College of Agriculture in 1956 and remained at the college after graduation as a teacher, also he served as a teacher working in Xi’an Jiaotong University and Shaanxi Poly-technical University in succession. He had studied in Soviet Union Moscow Geology Surveying University. In 1972, he returned to Northwest University of Agriculture, during which period, he was a professor and tutor of the Ph.D. students, the deputy-president and the director of the Agricultural Research Center for the Arid and Semiarid Areas of the university. In 1992, he was transferred to the original Xi’an Institute of Geology, which was converged into Chang’an University in 2000. At present he is a professor and tutor of the Ph.D. students, the director of Water Resource and Environ Training Center (sponsored by Sino-German with joint efforts) and the president of the Academy of Water and Development Research, holding the concurrent post of professor and tutor of Ph.D. students of the Northwest University of Agriculture and Forestry Science and Technology; and he has also been invited as the member of Shaanxi Province Decision-Making and Consultation Commission, etc.
Professor Li Peicheng has long been engaged in teaching, scientific research and engineering practice in such fields as agriculture water and soil engineering, groundwater seepage flow, realignment of national land resources, and water resources and environs, etc. “The Radial Well in Loess Region” developed by him won the award of National Science Conference in 1978;”The Light-type Wells” developed by him won the 4th National Invention Award in 1989; “The Fixed Position Tests of Comprehensive Control Over Water and Soil Erosion on the Loess Plateau’ sponsored by him won the first National Sci-tech Progress Award in 1993; and the 11 research projects sponsored by him approved of identification have been rewarded with the national, ministerial and provincial awards; and over 100 theses or papers and 11 monographs have been published hitherto.
Prof. Li Peicheng was evaluated and examined as the academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 2003. In recent years, Prof. Li has sponsored and completed the national key project of the “Strategic Studies and Construction of Demonstration Test Zones for Reconstruction of Graceful Landscape of Green Mountains with Clean-limpid Rivers in Northwest China”; and he is now responsible for the National Introduction of Talented People for 111 Discipline Innovation --- Base Construction of Introduction of Talented People for Innovation of Hydrological Ecology and Safety Science in the Arid and Semiarid Areas”.
