Research Interests:
His researches focus on soil erosion, erosion and SOC dynamics, soil landscape evolvement and relevant fields. In recent years, his work deals mainly with the process and mechanism of tillage erosion and the control of soil erosion. He proposed that tillage erosion is an important process of soil redistribution apart from water erosion on the steep land in hilly areas of the Upper Yangtze River Basin, and tillage erosion is a dominant process of soil redistribution on terraced fields. He has developed a new technique for measuring tillage erosion rates by a magnetic tracer, and this technique was awarded the National Innovation Patent. Since 2000, he has visited America, Canada, Germany, Britain, Spain, and Austria for academic exchanges and cooperative research. He has been in charge of or participated in over 20 research projects, including the International Cooperative Program, the National Basic Research Program of China, the National Key Technology Research and Development Program of China, the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Innovation Knowledge Engineering Project of CAS and so on. He was the winners of the Research Fund Award of the German Academic Exchange Service in 2004, the Research Fund Award of the British Royal Society in 2005 and Wang Kuancheng Outstanding Contribution Award for Western Scholars from the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2009. More than 90 papers have been published in international and domestic journals, over 20 of which are included in SCI journals such as Global Change Biology, European Journal of Soil Science, Soil Science Society of America Journal etc.
