Based on the theory of Intra-household Labor Division, households are divided into three types. Using Tanslog Stochastic Frontier Production Function Model and a large set of first-hand household level survey data from forestland management in Ya’an City in Sichuan Province, this paper makes an attempt at empirical analysis on the forestland management and the production technical efficiency of different types’ households. The results show that firstly, the features of households forestland management is labor force feminization, which not only affects the forestland management structure, input and output, but only effects technical efficiency. households that the male and female labor engaged in agriculture and forestry production show a strong advantage, while households that the female labor mainly engaged in agriculture and forestry shows vulnerable in forestland management. Secondly, technical efficiency loss shows that human resource investment like education and technical training, experience and labor quantity have a marked positive effect on the production efficiency of households’ forestland management, while non-agricultural employment has a negative effect, and household types show a marked effect. Finally, the paper draws a research conclusion and puts forward some policy suggestion.
