Accurate Monitoring of the common behaviors dairy cows is important to the intelligent behavior perception of cows. Owing to the complex background and the breeding conditions of dairy farms, the behavior characteristics of dairy cows are not obvious, and traditional object detection algorithms cannot detect the key parts with high precision.
Despite regulatory pressure and increased governmental funding that has focused on large-scale livestock farming, more efforts should also be put forward to the automatic and intelligent monitor of cow’s behaviors such as lameness detection, respiratory detection, ruminant behavior analysis, estrus behavior detection, and so on. Video analysis technology, an important means to improve the level of intelligent breeding of livestock, can accomplish automatic monitoring and sensing of animal behavior without stress, and has received increasing attention in the field of intelligent dairy farming. Video analysis technology could benefit the understanding of dairy cow’s health condition and improve the animal welfare.
In this presentation, we focused on the detection of dairy cow’s behaviors using machine vision technology and deep learning algorithms, as shown below:
(1) Lameness detection of dairy cows, especially for the detection of mildly lameness.
(2) Respiratory detection of dairy cows, especially for the abnormal respiratory behavior monitoring.
(3) Ruminant behavior analysis.
(4) Estrus behavior detection.
(5) Basic motion behavior detection.
